Having committed ourselves to our new community oriented approach, we decided to legally change our company structure from a Limited Company, to a Community Interest Company (CIC).
Enshrining ourselves as a not-for-profit organisation means that our patrons can have confidence that their support is going to preserving the East Coast’s heritage craft.
What this means in practice is that any surpluses that we make each year can be distributed amongst the rest of the fleet to help with restoration and maintenance costs. We need over 200 patrons to get to this point and are confident that with the public’s support, we’ll achieve this by the end of 2021.
