Arts, Heritage & Education

As the custodians of two historic vessels – the Sailing Barge Edith May and the Whitstable Oyster Smack Thistle F86 – we are passionate about developing an arts & cultural programme to share the unique history and opportunities these boats hold.

We are looking at forging a new path for these historic boats, by developing a programme that can reach as many people as possible and place the barge at the heart of the community. We’re in the early stages of exploring this aspect of the business and are keen to form new partnerships as part of this development. If you have a proposal for us or would like to know more, please contact us.

There are so many opportunities we are exploring! From residencies, sailing apprenticeships, crowdfunding, venue hire, art installations, educational visits, performance space… we can offer a truly unique and MOVING art facility connecting communities across the East Coast.
