Arts, Heritage & Education

As the custodians of two historic vessels – the Sailing Barge Edith May and the Whitstable Oyster Smack Thistle F86 – we are passionate about developing an arts & cultural programme to share the unique history and opportunities these boats hold.

We are looking at forging a new path for these historic boats, by developing a programme that can reach as many people as possible and place the barge at the heart of the community.

Take a look at our ‘Little Skipper’ or ‘Learning the Ropes’ offers for onboard learning, or subscribe to our Youtube channel to see our online tutorials.

There are so many opportunities we are exploring! From residencies, sailing apprenticeships, crowdfunding, venue hire, art installations, educational visits, performance space… we can offer a truly unique and MOVING art facility connecting communities across the East Coast.
