To take command of a ship is to know the full force of her power – 100tons of wood powered by 3500sqft of canvas – an unforgettable experience.
Under one to one supervision of our experienced T&W skippers and mates, this experience is a chance to take an extended go at handling a barge under sail. Our guys will share tricks of the trade as we sail off the mooring point and down the river, before trying to bring her back under sail again.
Manoeuvring in the upper reaches of the Medway, the sailing provides a great challenge, even for experienced sailors and is an excellent place to test the capabilities of the barge.
The experience lasts about 1.5hrs.
