A GRAND CELEBRATION OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN’S RECORD BREAKING REIGN

On the afternoon of Saturday 4th June 2022, the River Medway played host to the Platinum Jubilee Medway River Pageant.
Featuring a parade from the lower reaches, up to Sun Pier, Chatham and culminating with ‘The Grand Cacophony’ at 1530hrs- a wall of sound from ships to shore – the event was a spectacle unlike any seen on the river for a generation.
For the public, Sun Pier hosted a ‘street party’ from 12pm to 5pm, with live music, food outlets and craft stalls where you could make your own ‘noisy implement’ to get involved with the Cacophony.
Saturday 4th June
HW 1627hrs
1200hrs – Nationwide ship horn honk
1230hrs – fleet musters in Saltpan, upriver of Thamesport. Parade up to Sun Pier, Chatham.
1400hrs – Rowing fleet departs Medway Yacht Club
1430hrs – Pageant begins to arrive off Sun Pier
Moorings and anchorages will be pre-allocated – available moorings range from Rochester Pier to Short Reach.
1530hrs – ‘The Grand Cacophony’
Early evening – Crews social event around the Sun Pier area.
