Description
RThis experience is aimed at those that have completed the Learning the Ropes experience or are seeking an in depth session on how to sail the barge.
Whereas the original LTR experience is condensed into an afternoon lesson and practical, this experience is for the whole day, allowing for more developed learning and a greater understanding.
Starting at Sun Pier, Chatham, you will be shown over all aspects of handling the barge, before putting your back into getting her off the pontoon and underway – preferably using wind and tide alone, like in the good old days!
You’ll head downriver to open water and practice manoeuvres to familiarise yourself with the ship, enabling you to become a competent crew member.
Tea and coffee provided, but bring a pack up lunch and plenty of snacks – you’ll be working hard!
This experience is suitable for ages 16+.
