Can you remember the sunshine?

We’ve been a little quiet on here while beavering away behind the scenes on lots of great projects.

We’d thought we’d share a few pictures to remind us of the beautiful weather we’ve had this year, and tell you a little about our last (and one of our only) sailing trip of 2020.

In September, we were lucky to take out a small group of people for a history trip along the River Medway, particularly looking at the area known as Chatham Intra, where the Rochester and Chatham High Street’s meet. It’s a great part of the River and a regular feature in our sailing schedule, offering short trips for people to see Chatham and Rochester from a completely new perspective.

The sailing trip was part of a new arts festival being developed, and Tiller & Wheel are lucky to be a part of the programme. ‘Ebb & Flow’ is an arts programme and festival, run by Sun Pier House CIC in partnership with Intra Arts, and commissioned by Creative Estuary. Activities are taking place over a number of months in the run up to a celebratory weekend of events 21-23 May 2021, as part of Estuary Festival 2021.

When we’re not sailing barges and repairing old wooden boats, we (Heather & Ed) also run Sun Pier House, an arts space in Chatham. Building Tiller & Wheel in to our community work at Sun Pier House is a really exciting new phase for us, and a great way of introducing these historic vessels to new audiences.

We’ll be sharing more news about our involvement in Ebb & Flow over the coming months, and you can see more about the festival here – http://www.EbbAndFlowFest.co.uk
